Guwahati may record 2,000 COVID-19 cases per day if rules not followed

GUWAHATI: Around 2 thousand people may infect with COVID-19 in Guwahati if the citizens do not follow the rules to contain the pandemic, said Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“If people do not follow the rules of wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, then around 2,000 cases will be found in Guwahati,” Dr. Sarma said.

Dr. Sarma also ruled out the possibility of extending lockdown in the city after July 19.

“We have not thought anything about lockdown yet. I think lockdown for a long period is not economically feasible. Like the citizens, the government is also economically affected due to lockdown,” the health minister added.
