Guwahati: Lockdown restrictions relaxed in 11 wards for 2 days

GUWAHATI: In view of 14-day lockdown beginning from Sunday night in all the areas of Guwahati, Kamrup (Metropolitan) district administration has relaxed the restrictions in the 11 wards of the city where lockdown was imposed on Tuesday (June 23).

Restrictions have been relaxed from 8 AM to 4 PM on Saturday (June 27) and Sunday (June 28) to facilitate people of these 11 wards to procure essential commodities.

“For facilitating purchase of essential items from the market and for carrying out of other emergency works, restrictions imposed in Ward wise lockdown Zones are relaxed from 8-00 AM to 4-00 PM on 27th and 28 June 2020. Residents of the Lockdown Zones are advised to visit the nearby markets avoiding overcrowding and by maintaining COVID-19 Protocols,” stated an official order issued by Kamrup (Metro) deputy commissioner.

Earlier in the day, Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna asked the district administration to allow movement of the people from these zones to collect their essentials.
