GUWAHATI: GROCERY SHOPS TO REMAIN OPEN ON JULY 11

Guwahati:  Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna has issued a revised order allowing grocery shops in Guwahati to remain open on 12 July with all necessary precautionary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The order which is applicable to all the areas under Kamrup (Metropolitan) district states the following points:

  1. Wholesalers of essential items like Rice, Atta, Pulses, Onions, Potatoes, Salt and edible oil will be allowed to replenish their stocks on July 10 between 10.00 AM and 6.00 PM. 
  2. Wholesalers are allowed to distribute essential commodities to retailers on Saturday, July 11 between 10.00 AM and 6.00 PM. 
  3.  Fruits and vegetables are allowed to be retailed following social distancing in residential areas on Saturday, July 11. 
  4. Grocery shops and shops selling personal hygiene items are allowed to open on July 11 between 9.00 AM and 5.00 PM. 

However, no roadside vending of any fruit, vegetable, fish, etc will be allowed. 

The above-mentioned activities are allowed as relaxation during the 2-week lock down which was imposed in Kamrup Metro on midnight of June 29.
