Guwahati: From 1st Bohag Cross Brahmaputra in 10 mins using ropeway

Guwahati: The ropeway connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati is ready for commercial operation and according to reports the operation will start from April 2020.

“Guwahati to North Guwahati ropeway construction has completed, including trial run and we will start the operation on the first day of Bohag Bihu,” said Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

One can cross the Brahmaputra and reach the other bank in 10 mins.

The 1820-meter long ropeway will start its operation with two cabins and a capacity of 33 passengers.

It is to be mentioned that the ropeway will be India’s longest ropeway on a river. The lower terminal of the ropeway is at Kachari Ghat in Guwahati, while the upper terminal is at Rajadwar in North Guwahati. The ropeway cabins for this project have been imported from Switzerland.
