Guwahati police said the man whose body was found inside a lodge suffered from alcoholism-related issues and died after slipping from the staircase
Two persons were killed in Guwahati in separate incidents today (June 19).
While an electrician was electrocuted while he was installing an air conditioner (AC) in Jonali locality of Guwahati, the body of another person who had come to Guwahati for the medical treatment of his wife was recovered at a lodge where he had moved into along with his wife and mother-in-law.
Three electricians had come to a business unit named Bajaj Bikes in Jonali for AC installation. One of them climbed onto the roof to carry out the installation but got electrocuted due to a short-circuit.
He died on the spot and his body was later taken to GMCH for a post-mortem.
On the other hand, the body of another person was recovered from a lodge this morning.
Sanjiv Nath from Sonitpur district had come to Guwahati for his wife’s treatment. His mother-in-law also accompanied them.
They had checked into a lodge named Bibha’s Lodge and Restaurant in Guwahati’s Super Market area on Monday (June 16).
His body was recovered inside the lodge complex with lodge authorities claiming that they heard the deceased entering into a quarrel with his wife and mother-in-law on Tuesday.
“He had checked into room number 104 of our lodge on Monday. He was staying here with his mother-in-law and his wife was undergoing treatment at GNRC Hospitals. He had severe alcoholism-related issues and used to shiver all the time,” the manager of the hotel told News Live.
“We have a small kitchen garden inside our hotel complex. Today, when we had gone there to pluck vegetables, we discovered his body lying there,” the manager further said.
“It’s a natural death. He slipped from the staircase and suffered a bad fall that led to his death,” a police official said.
