GUWAHATI: With the Assam Police’s extensive drive against drugs and narcotics in Assam, the Dispur Police on Thursday apprehended a drug peddler from Darandha, Sixmile area of Guwahati.
Acting on a tip-off, the Dispur Police raided the house of Aslam(Brain) and found drugs and other objectional items. A total of 13-14 grams of suspected drugs and cash Rs. 52,000 was seized. Champa Begum, mother of Aslam was arrested by Dispur Police.
“We recovered Rs.52,000 in cash and at least 13-14 grams of brown sugar from his house. Nowadays the drug peddlers use tobacco containers or chocolate boxes instead of transparent containers as it is easy to smuggle. We have also raided their second house in Satgaon, Milijuli path and we have seized a number of soap cases and syringes. Also, two motorcycles have been seized,” said Himangshu Das, A.C.P. Dispur Police Station.
