GUWAHATI: The Assam health department has been stepping up with infrastructure to deal with COVID-19 situation in the state. In a move to give the much-needed impetus to its fight against the pandemic, the state government set up a COVID-19 care centre at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati.
The centre with 850 beds capacity will be operational soon, stated Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma after visiting the site on Thursday.
O the other hand, a 1000-bedded COVID care centre at Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT) at Azara and another at Mirza with 650 beds capacity are decked up to receive patients within a few days.
Dr. Sarma reviewed the preparedness at both the centres.
