Guwahati: A couple living as tenants allegedly murdered their elderly landlord identified as Hemdhor Baruah with a machete on Friday afternoon at Japorigog, Guwahati.
The tenant couple has been identified as Dharani Deka and Rimi Deka.
According to reports, the tenant Dharani Deka attacked his landlord Baruah with a machete for allegedly misbehaving with his wife Rimi Deka.
Dharani Deka and his wife Rimi along with their two sons were living in the residence of Hemdhar Baruah (75) since last year at Japorigog under Dispur police station in Guwahati.
Deka and his wife surrendered before the police after committing the crime. Police arrested the duo.
Meanwhile, the landlord was rushed to a private hospital; however, he succumbed to his injuries.
Deka was working as a DTP operator at a private news channel.
