It was a historic and a momentous occasion as Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck landed in Guwahati this morning on a 3-day visit to Assam. What makes the visit more special is the fact that it is the first visit ever by a monarch of Bhutan to Assam.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the Bhutan King at LGBI aiport, Guwahati.
CM Sarma was accompanied by ministers Ranoj Pegu, Ranjit Kumar Dass and other dignitaries
Soon after landing at airport, the Bhutan King left for the revered Kamakhya temple and offered prayers at the holy shrine.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who welcomed King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangshuk at the airport in a post on X said,

Among the several programmes lined up, Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk will interact with the Bhutanese students and nationals residing in Assam at the Assam Administrative Staff College.
It may be mentioned here that Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria will host a state dinner for the Royal today evening.
The Bhutan King will also visit the world famous Kaziranga National Park tomorrow. He will be leaving for New Delhi on November 5 where he will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This visit by the Bhutan King is historic and momentous and promises to pave way for an exemplary partnership between Bhutan and Assam and of course Bhutan and India.
The visit of the Bhutan King will provide an opportunity for both countries to review bilateral cooperation.
The king has been accompanied by his wife, Queen Jetsun Pema, and the couple’s two sons.
