Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday flagged off four steel catamaran vessels at Pandu Port in Guwahati.
On the event CM Sarma stated that these vessels are launched under a WorldBank funded project to transform quality of IWT services and integrate high quality passenger and vehicle ferry services into Assam’s wider transport network system.
Taking to his Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Flagged off four steel catamaran vessels at Pandu Port in Guwahati today. These vessels are launched under a @WorldBank funded project to transform quality of IWT services and integrate high quality passenger & vehicle ferry services into Assam’s wider transport network system.”

The vessels are powered with 180 HP twin engines with 10 knots forward speed. They can ply lower draft of 0.75 m & are laced with advance services such as control & monitoring; communication & navigation; GPS, eco sounder & wind measurement; lifesaving & firefighting equipment. pic.twitter.com/3cikgUSxSU

Out of 4 vessels, 2 will ply over river Brahmaputra at Majuli & 1 each b/w Ghy -North Ghy & Uzanbazar-Umananda.
