Guwahati: Budget session of the Assam Legislative Assembly starts

PUBLISHED:

Guwahati: The 14th budget session of the Assam Legislative Assembly began today. The session commenced with Governor Prof. Jagadish Mukhi’s speech.

On the first day of the session, the opposition parties Congress and AIUDF  created a stir in the assembly by displaying placards against the government. Because of such a tense situation, the Governor left his speech in the middle.

Congress leaders left in the middle of the session and started protesting against the ruling government by alleging them of fake promises.

Speaking to the media Congress leader Debabrata Saikia said, “Being a responsible opposition party we have left the session in between and are protesting against the current government. During the BJP government tenure, they haven’t done anything which was promised. The session began with the Governor’s speech which had nothing to do with the promises they made. We are protesting against all the fake promises that the ruling government has made”.

It is to be noted that Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will present the ‘Vote on Accounts Budget’ for the 2021-2022 fiscal on the second day. The House will pass the Budget on February 13.
