Guwahati-bound Kamakhya Express derails in Odisha, one passenger reported dead

Several passengers reportedly suffered injuries after the Guwahati-bound Kamakhya Express derailed in Odisha

GUWAHATI, March 30: At least 11 bogies of the Guwahati-Bound Kamakhya Express derailed near Cuttack in Odisha today (March 30).

The coaches of the Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express derailed at around 11:54 am on Sunday when it was crossing Nirgundi railway station.

One person has reportedly died in the mishap while many other passengers were injured.

The exact reason behind the derailment is unclear.

The Kamakhya Express was carrying many passengers from Assam, including pilgrims visiting Puri, who were returning to the State in the train.

Special Train for Stranded Passengers

A special rescue train has been sent to the spot to bring passengers of the Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express following the derailment.

Helpline Numbers Issued

The East Coast Railways (ECoR), meanwhile issued several helpline numbers for the passengers and their families.

NF Railway issues Helpline Numbers

NF Railway has also release a list of Helpline numbers in the wake of the derailment of the Bangalore-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express.
