Guwahati: Good news for the booklovers as the Publication Board Assam & All Assam Publishers & Book Sellers association will jointly organise the Assam Book Fair for the first time, namely ‘’Assam Grontho Mela” from December 29 at the Assam Engineering Institute playground, Chandmari. The book fair will conclude on January 9.
Book lovers have already been missing the book fair for over two years as it was cancelled due to volatile situation in the state over the Citizenship (Amendmnet) Act, in 2019, and the COVID-19 pandemic destroyed dreams of all publishers, printers, and readers the year before.
A few days ago, Dr. Noni Gopal Mahanta, Imran Ahmed, Baharul Islam Choudhury, Jagdish Mahanta Chaliha, and Pramod Kalita provided the details at a Press Conference that was held in Assam Prakashan Parishad, Book publisher in Bamunimaidan, Guwahati.
According to reports this year, the theme of the book fair will be based on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and certain issues prevailing in society.
It will run for twelve days, from the 29th of December 2021 to the 9th of January 2022.
