Guwahati: 7-year-old boy defeats COVID-19

GUWAHATI: A 7-year-old child from Guwahati has become a source of inspiration for all the COVID-19 patients by emerging victorious against the virus. The boy named Ishan Roy defeated COVID-19 and left Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Tuesday.

Sharing the pictures of little Ishan on Twitter, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Seven years old Ishan Roy came to #Guwahatimedicalcollege with #COVID19. Little Ishan got discharged on the 28th of July. One can feel the emotional connection between Ishan and our medical team. My best wishes to the little kid.”

On the other hand, 86-year-old Hemkanta Mahanta from Japorigog area of the city was also discharged from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) after he had recovered from COVID-19 infection. The octogenarian with comorbidities spent 12 days at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the MMCH.

“The care and behaviour of the health workers were really nice. It was a nice experience,” said Mahanta after his discharge from the hospital.

Earlier, several other elderly persons also defeated the virus.
