GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to announce 15 more COVID-19 positive case in Kamrup (Metropolitan) district. All the 15 persons came into contact with Mangu Sahani, a COVID-19 positive patient from Fancy Bazar area in Guwahati. With these the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Assam has reached 79.
Dr. Sarma mentioned that all the 15 people were under quarantine. He asked the citizens not to become panic. The patients are being taken to Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati for treatment.
Mangu Sahani, a worker at a potato storage facility at Fancy Bazaar area in Guwahati tested COVID-19 positive on Monday.
Following that on Tuesday, Kamrup (Metro) district administration declared the area encircling Hotel Rajkamal as containment zone. The district authority also shut down the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Market Complex falling over Tarun Ram Phukan Road which is under notified containment zone. The entire activities of the market complex have been prohibited with immediate effect from May 12.
