Guwahati: Several employees of the 108 ambulance service in Assam staged a protest for regularisation of their jobs at Guwahati Club on Friday.
The employees of the 108 service demanded that they should be given proper amenities at par with employees of the state government.
One of the protesters said, “We have been working relentlessly from the time of COVID. Everyone knows that at first, we bring COVID-19 patients to the hospital. We are always in danger of being infected with C0VID-19. But we haven’t received any kind of recognition from the government and that is the reason we have come up to the streets to protest.”
Besides regularization of their jobs, the employees also demanded continuation of additional remuneration of Rs. 1000 which was provided for COVID-19 service.
