Guwahati: 10 Dacoits arrested, 3 on the run, pistol-cash recovered

GUWAHATI: The Hatigaon Police arrested ten dacoits from different parts of the country in connection with a robbery case that took place on 31 December in Bhetapara area of Guwahati. The gang of robbers had looted Rs. 20 lakh from Nayanmoni Das, an employee of a company named CMS.

Following the incident, a case was registered at Hatigaon Police Station with FIR number- 800/2020. The Hatigaon Police launched a number of operations between 5 January and 13 January to nab the gang.

On 5 January, the Hatigaon Police launched an operation and arrested two dacoits involved in the case. The two are Sanjiv Singh (27) and Mumtaz Ali (23). On the basis of a statement of the duo, Hatigaon Police launched operations in Dhubri, Guwahati, and Bihar, and arrested Kamakhya Singh (24), also seized a 7.62 pistol from his possession. In Bihar, the Assam Police team arrested Aadit Tiwari(20) and cash amounting to Rs. 2.57 lakh has also been recovered from their possession.

Others involved in the robbery have been identified as Ashraful Sheikh(28) of Dhubri, Biju Basumatary(27), Suren Basumatary(28), Ringson Choudhury(34) of Baksa, and Ramchandra Nath(24) of Bongaigaon.

Three others who are involved in the robbery are on the run and the Hatigaon Police is investigating the matter.
