Guwahati: The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department of Assam has permitted home delivery service of mutton and chicken meat in Guwahati effective from Thursday.
According to a news report the District Administration has given contracts of selling of healthy meat to a few vendors of different areas in Guwahati. They will provide door-to-door service of mutton and chicken in the respective areas allotted to them.
The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has permitted 9 businessmen of 9 areas in Guwahati to sell meat and they are:

- Masruf Khan of Lokhra (9954519007)
- Metherin F of Noonmati (9707431026)
- Kamal Das of Ganeshgudi (7002202033)
- Rajesh Boro of Lalganesh (6900331734)
- Kamal Bora of Bhangaghar (7002243806)
- Pankaj Kumar Deka of Beltola (8638182821)
- Niranjan Das of Jalukbari (8404002552)
As per the government fixed rate, 1kg of chicken will cost Rs. 240 and 1kg of mutton will cost Rs. 650.
Meanwhile, egg vendors can also sell eggs by going door-to-door and they can sell one tray of eggs for not more than Rs. 140. However, after providing door-to-door service these vendors cannot sell meat in the market or standing on the roads. Strict action will be taken against those who will break the law set by the government.
The poultry businessmen have been asked to maintain social distancing and follow the guidelines to avoid COVID-19 while supplying to the customers.
