Gobinda Basumatary joins UPPL

GUWAHATI: National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Progressive) leader Gobinda Basumatary joined United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) on Wednesday.

The former rebel leader who was one of the signatories of the Bodo Peace Accord joined UPPL at a public meeting held in Udalguri district. In his speech, Gobinda Basumatary criticised Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary alleging rampant corruption and anomalies in Mohilary’s rule.

Basumatary claimed that the people of the Bodoland Terrritorial Region (BTR) were willing for a political alternative in the region and would vote for BJP.

Prithiviraj Narayan Dev Mech who played instrumental role in bringing NDFB(S) to peace talks with the government also joined UPPL at the same meeting.

On the other hand, UPPL organised another mass joining drive at Kajalgaon in Chirang district. A number of BPF workers including organising secretary of Kajalgaon Block BPF Gajibur Rahman joined UPPL in the meeting.
