GMCH AND AMC GET READY FOR COVID-19 VACCINATION

Guwahati: The COVID-19 vaccination programme is set to begin on 16 January in Assam.

The immunisation programme will be inaugurated at 10:30 AM at 65 locations including two major locations.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will inaugurate the programme at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh.

Whereas Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the programme at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

Speaking to News Live Principal Cum Chief Superintendent of GMCH Dr. Achyut Ch. Baishya said, “We have readied a list of over 100 beneficiaries for tomorrow’s programme through an app. The beneficiaries will be informed about the time and centre of vaccination. Using the mobile phone we are including the names of beneficiaries, identifying through a driving licence or PAN card”.

Dr. Baishya also added, “All safety measures will be in place for the vaccination drive. We are prepared to deal with any adverse effect of the vaccine. The beds, teams and ICUs are ready for tomorrow. An observation room is also ready to be used for half an hour after the vaccine”.

“As GMCH has been selected as a vaccination centre,  it will be operational on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We will try to vaccinate 100 on each day, he added”. 

GMCH Superintendent Dr. Abhijit Sarma said, “The beneficiaries must bring their government ID and will be checked at the entrance itself. A waiting area has been set up for the beneficiaries and they can sit and wait for their turn for the vaccination. An observation room is also ready to be used for half an hour after the vaccine. The entire vaccination process will take at least take 45 minutes”.
