Guwahati: Guwahati City FC’s (GCFC) Guwahati Football school centre, one of the Football Schools which was established by the club to train and select young talents for its Academy, observed its first Foundation Day and Children’s Day on Saturday at the International School.
A Seven-A-Side U13 championship was organized on this occasion, where Kaziranga Football Academy, APRO GFCC, and Udayan Krishti Sangha, along with GCFC Football School participated.
Udayan Krishti Sangha emerged as the Champions in the tournament. Assam Football Association Treasurer Mr Hiren Gogoi and Guwahati Sports Association General Secretary Mr Dhrubajyoti Kalita graced the occasion and gave away trophies in the prize distribution ceremony.
GCFC Co-Founders Siddhartha Sankar Deka, Darick Ranjan Deka and Kaustab Chakraborty were also present at the event. U10 player Dibyapratim Basumatary was awarded Football School’s Best Player of The Year award.
It is to be mentioned that GCFC Football Schools have been focusing on player development since its inception and U8 and U10 teams of GCFC Guwahati Football School won Greater Guwahati Baby League and APRO Baby League last season.
