CM Dr Sarma said Gaurav Gogoi’s case of visiting Pakistan on ISI’s invitation and his relations with the Pakistani establishment is way more serious than ‘spy’ Jyoti Malhotra
Gaurav Gogoi’s case more serious than ‘spy’ Jyoti Malhotra, says CM Sarma: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma continued his frontal attack on Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi today (May 21) saying that the Congress MP’s relations with Pakistan are more serious than that of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, arrested for working as a Pakistani ‘spy’.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma, who was addressing media persons at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy at Dergaon in Golaghat district after chairing a meeting of the State cabinet, said he considers Gaurav Gogoi’s Pakistan visit, and the relations the Jorhat MP has been maintaining with Pakistani officers, more serious than YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra since Gaurav Gogoi, upon his return from Pakistan, sought answers about India’s defence capabilities, including the country’s nuclear arsenal, and the strategic locations where they are being kept.
“His case is more serious than that of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra since he wanted to know about the country’s nuclear arsenal and the strategic locations where they were kept; questions he asked in Parliament after his return from Pakistan,” Chief Minister Dr Sarma stated.
The Assam Chief Minister also took exception to Gaurav Gogoi’s dillydallying response on whether he did visit Pakistan and stayed in the enemy nation for 15 days.
“He doesn’t answer what we have been asking: Did he visit Pakistan or not? But what he does is he questions why former Home Minister and BJP patriarch LK Advani or PM Modi visited Pakistan? He should know that what they did was done keeping the government informed and not surreptitiously as the Congress MP did by not informing the government about his Pakistan visit,” CM Dr Sarma further stated.
“He is also trying to provoke me by seeking the data we are processing regarding his visit to Pakistan and relations he has had with the Pakistani establishment. But I have already announced that we will gather all details and put them out in public domain on September 10,” Dr Sarma added.
