GUWAHATI: Besides thousands of incoming people, many VIPs and VVIPs in Assam have been observing institutional and home quarantine in view of COVID-19 pandemic. The top political echelons who are under quarantine include Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora, Lok Sabha MP from Kaliabor Gaurav Gogoi and Nagaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi. Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Prasad Baishya along with his family has already completed home quarantine period.
APCC president Ripun Bora and his wife Manika Bora were in institutional quarantine at Hotel Radisson Blu after their arrival in Guwahati from Delhi by Rajdhani Express. They are now under home quarantine following the negative test report of COVID-19.
Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi had already tested negative for COVID-19 in Delhi. He was sent for home quarantine after his return from Delhi by flight on Wednesday. MP Gaurav gogoi who flew back to Guwahati on Wednesday is also under quarantine at Hotel Radisson Blu.
Both of them expressed satisfaction over the arrangements of the government to contain COVID-19.
On the other hand, after the return of his wife and daughter, Chaygaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed has also kept himself under home quarantine.
