Gauhati Medical College to soon come out of Containment Zone

Guwahati: In a major relief Gauhati Medical College will soon be freed from Containment zone as all the samples of the medical staffs tested negative.

Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took his official twitter handle to announce the news. The tweet stated that GMCH will be freed from containment zone after samples of entirely all 2,200 persons (except two who tested positive) test negative.

Further the tweet also stated that the government will soon resume operations at GMCH following the development.  But, Regional Dental College will remain as a containment zone for the time being.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On Thursday Dr. Sarma also said that all the doctors of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) will resume their duties from May 15.

“All doctors including the superintendent of the GMCH, Dr Ramen Talukdar will resume their duties after testing negative in successive COVID-19 tests,” said Sarma.

The doctors were put under quarantine after Dr Lithikesh DS, a post-graduate doctor at GMCH tested COVID-19 positive. After that, a student at Regional Dental Hospital and a patient of the neurology department were tested positive.
