GUWAHATI: In a move to make the city streets less congested, the under-construction Ganeshguri flyover in Guwahati will be opened for public during the Durga Puja, announced Assam PWD and finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. He also stated that the flyover at Super Market would be opened on the first day of Bohag, the first month of Assamese calendar.

Dr. Sarma made the announcements while kicking-off the construction work of another flyover at Maligaon. The 2992-metre-long flyover from Maligaon towards Kamakhya Gate with a diversion from Maligaon towards Pandu will be the longest in Assam.

The  two-lane flyover will be constructed with a cost of Rs. 420.75 crore from State Owned Priority Development (SOPD) fund 2020-21 within 36 months. It is expected that the flyover will reduce the traffic congestion in the city.
