PUBLISHED:

Guwahati: The news of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput killing himself has shocked the entire Indian film industry.

Sushant Singh Rajput, who made his acting debut with Star Plus TV show Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil (2008), shot to fame as Manav in Zee TV’s popular soap opera Pavitra Rishta.

Sushant made his transition to Bollywood with Kai Po Che (2013). In a career spanning over a decade, Sushant became a part of several hit projects like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath, Sonchiriya and Chhichhore among more.

Here is the complete list of films acted by Sushant Rajput Singh.

 Kai Po Che (2013):

The Manav (Pavitra Rishta) of Indian television had surprised his fans by fitting in the role of Ishaan Bhatt with sheer perfection. The film, based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, revolved around the 2001 Gujarat earthquake and Godhra train burning. Sushant played an ex-district level cricketer who is a victim of politics in the cricketing selection fraternity, and won the Best Male Debut Filmfare award for his performance.

Shuddh Desi Romance (2013):

In the same year, Sushant starred in Shuddh Desi Romance, along with Parineeti Chopra. The film was a hit at the box office. He proved that he was not just another Bollywood hero. With this non-formulaic and non-conforming rom-com, Sushant proved he was willing to take risks, and make a space for himself in the industry that was purely his own.

PK (2014):

Sushant then played a small role in Aamir Khan-starrer PK (2014). In the film, he played the role of Jagat Janani’s (Anushka Sharma) love interest, Sarfaraz. Despite limited screen time, Sushant made his presence felt and brought a huge smile on our faces.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (2015):

Sushant continued off the beaten track to star in Dibakar Banerjee’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, slipping into the legendary Bengali sleuth’s role with ease. After a modern-day romance, Sushant fully immersed himself into the 1940s’ hairstyle, body language and accent.

M.S Dhoni (2016):

Portraying the character of arguably India`s most successful cricketing captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sushant was seen in Neeraj Pandey`s biopic drama M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story co-starring Kiara Advani and Disha Patani in 2016. The movie went on to become a commercial success and Sushant`s performance won him a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actor. His act as MS Dhoni was lauded by one and sundry as he displayed superlative acting chops.

Raabta (2017):

Sushant was roped in by Dinesh Vijan to play the lead opposite Kriti Sanon in his 2017 romance Raabta. The story revolved between the two lead characters Shiv (SushantSingh Rajput)  and Saira (Kriti Sanon)  who fall for each other and form an inseparable connection. Until, Saira crosses paths with a reincarnated lover from a previous lifetime who is determined to make her his lover again.  Unfortunately, Raabta received lukewarm critical reception.

Kedarnath (2018):

Kedarnath was an inter-faith love story between a Hindu Brahmin girl whose family owns a lodge and shops near the historic Kedarnath Temple in the Uttarakhand mountains and a humble Muslim boy who is a ‘pithoo’ (porter). It served as Sara Ali Khan’s debut vehicle, and reunited Sushant with his Kai Po Che director Abhishek Kapoor. The actor was praised for his nuanced performance, being the solid support a newcomer needed in a co-star.

Sonchiriya (2019):

In 2019 he headlined the multi-starrer Sonchiriya, directed by Abhishek Chaubey. Set in ravines of the Chambal valley against the backdrop of the Emergency, it tells the tale of dacoits in 1975. The film’s entire cast, including Sushant, was praised for their top notch performances. He did not only elevate the film, but also established himself as a versatile actor with the role. Sonchiriya also starred Bhumi Pednekar and Manoj Bajpayee.

 Chhichhore (2019) :

Sushant was last seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore, a light-hearted drama that released in September 2019. The actor played the role of a middle-aged man, Anirudh Pathak, who lives with his son, Raghav. Shraddha Kapoor played Sushant’s estranged wife in the film. The film, a story of love, friendship and brotherhood, made the audience laugh as well as cry in theatres. It also starred Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Naveen Polishetty, Tushar Pandey and Prateik Babbar among others.
