Free Aadhaar Document Update Online Extended: If you haven’t updated your Aadhaar in the last 10 years or your personal details like name or address have changed, here’s some good news for you. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now extended the deadline to update Aadhaar documents online for free till June 14, 2026. This special facility is available only through the myAadhaar portal and is a big relief for lakhs of Aadhaar holders across the country.

Earlier, updating Aadhaar online required you to pay Rs 50. Now, UIDAI has made it completely free – but only if you do it through their online portal. You still have to pay the fee if you visit Aadhaar Seva Kendras or update biometric details like fingerprints or iris scan.

This move by UIDAI is mainly to help people keep their Aadhaar records clean and updated. It’s especially useful for those who got their Aadhaar 10 or more years ago and haven’t updated it since. Also, people whose documents have changed due to marriage, shifting houses, or any other reason can now update for free from the comfort of their homes.

UIDAI also posted this update on their official handle on X (formerly Twitter), encouraging all Aadhaar holders to make use of this free facility and ensure their details are accurate.

To use this free update service, you only need to upload your valid Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents. All you need is your Aadhaar number and the mobile number linked to it to receive OTP.

What you can’t do online for free?
