GUWAHATI, Jan 28: A court in Pakistan has sentenced four men to death on blasphemy charges after they posted offensive matter degrading Islamic religious figures and the Koran on social media, reports stated.
Along with the death sentences, the judge also imposed a collective fine of 4.6 million Pakistani rupees.
According to the court order, dated January 24 and passed by a judge in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, the four persons were sentenced to death by hanging for reportedly using sacrilegious remarks against Prophet besides also sentencing them to life imprisonment for defiling the Holy Quran.
Reports, however, stated that lawyers of the four individuals are preparing to challenge the judgement in a higher court.
