GUWAHATI, Feb 16: As the countdown for IPL 2025 begins, there is considerable discussion among fans and cricket pundits as to who will now lead Delhi Capitals in this year’s edition following the departure of Rishabh Pant to Lucknow Super Giants.

Former India opener Akash Chopra believes there are three players who can lead the Delhi outfit.

Raising this issue on his YouTube channel, Chopra named Axar Patel, KL Rahul and South African veteran Faf du Plessis as the three players who have the potential to lead the Capitals.

“I feel Delhi have three options. They have Axar Patel and KL Rahul, and they have Faf du Plessis as well,” he said.

The former India Opener who is now a seasoned commentator feels Axar has the edge over KL Rahul and du Plessis.

“However, I have a feeling that it could be Axar,” he stated.

While the Delhi franchise retained Axar for a whopping Rs 16.50 crore, they acquired the services of Rahul — who was captain of LSG and Punjab Kings — for Rs 14 crore while Faf du Plessis was roped in for Rs 2 crore in the auctions held at Jeddah.

Du Plessis, as all knows, captained RCB after Viral Kohli stepped down as skipper.

It now remains to be seen as to whether the management of Delhi Capitals do name one of the above three to lead the outfit in IPL 2025 which begins in just over a month’s time.
