Guwahati: Former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi, who tested positive for the coronavirus last week, was administered plasma therapy after his condition deteriorated on Monday night. The veteran Congress leader is in a stable condition now.
Dr. Abhijit Sharma of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) informed that the former CM is in a stable condition now and have been moved to the cabin. Though the doctors have kept the ICU ready but it seemed it won’t be necessary to shift him to the ICU anymore.
Speaking to the media Dr. Sharma said, “The former CM is in a better condition now. Oxygen saturation has been maintained at 96- 97% with three litres of oxygen on mask. He did take his food on time and went to sleep”.
He also added, “We have already prepared the ICU for him but according to me he is stabilized now and I don’t think so it will be necessary for us to shift him back to the ICU. The cardio reports are fine too but the sugar level has been fluctuating for a while now but it’s absolutely fine. We are ready to take up any challenges if his health deteriorates in any circumstances”.
Earlier on Monday night the Former CM had a sudden fall in oxygen saturation and it came down to 88 per cent. The team of doctors immediately supervised his health and decided to give 1 unit of plasma with 2 l of oxygen on mask.
A nine-member team of doctors along with the head of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital’s pulmonary medicine department are monitoring Gogoi’s health condition. The 85-year-old three-time Congress chief minister, who represents Titabor Assembly constituency in Jorhat district, is among 24 legislators from the state to have contracted the infection
