Former Army Chief General (Retd.) VK Singh sworn in as new Mizoram Governor

GUWAHATI, Jan 16: Former Army Chief General (Retd.) VK Singh was sworn in as the new governor of Mizoram on Thursday.

General Singh becomes the 25th governor of the Northeastern State and replaced Hari Babu Kambhampati who was appointed governor of Odisha.

He was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Justice Vijay Bishnoi.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma along with his cabinet collogues and other invited guests attended the oath-taking ceremony of General (Retd.) VK Singh.

General Singh served as the 24th Army Chief from 2010 to 2012 and was the Minister of State for External Affairs, MoS (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), and MoS for Statistics and Programme Implementation in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first government besides officiating as the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Civil Aviation in PM Modi’s second term.
