Guwahati: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Monday formed a new political party and named it as Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP). The newly-formed Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) party has come up with the slogan of “Ghore Ghore Aami”. With their slogan the party promises to work for the development of the people of Assam.
The new political party, named as the ‘Assam Jatiya Parishad’ (AJP), will have “Assam first, always, and forever” as its motto and the party’s members shall look to contest in around 80 seats in the upcoming polls.
The name was announced by the conveners of Assam Advisory Committee convenors Krishna Gopal Bhattacharya and Basanta Deka in Guwahati. Meanwhile the party claims that the groundwork of the new party has already been kickstarted in as many as 25 districts across Assam.
The party will focus mainly on the youth of the state and will work for the betterment of the state. They aim to also provide a clean government to the people and upholding the dignity and development of various communities of the state.
Former AGP leader, Jagdish Bhuyan will be the state convener, HM Barbhuyan will be in charge of Barak Valley, Raju Phukan to oversee work in Golaghat, Sivasagar and Jorhat, and Haren Chutia will be in charge of Lakhimpur. Chittaranjan Basumatary will bear the responsibility for Jonai, Dhemaji and Dibrugarh.
“We do not want to be a typical political party. We wish to be the friends of the people of the state. That’s the reason we have taken up the new slogan ghore ghore ami. We will connect with every household in the state. We will reach out to the people not just at the time of elections, but we will always remain between the public,” Basanta Deka, convenor of the AJP said at the meeting.
From Tuesday, 15th September, AJP will start the process of adding new party members across the state and it will continue till 30 October. Right now, the party consists of 17 members only but will add new members in the coming days and only then the state committee will be formed.
It is to be mentioned that only after the state committee is formed AJP will organize its first campaign meeting or public rally. They are aiming to do so from the month of November.
