FM Nirmala Sitharaman’s daughter gets married in intimate ceremony in Bengaluru

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s daughter Parakala Vangamayi tied knot with Pratik Doshi in her Bengaluru home on 8 June. The wedding was an intimate ceremony and was attended only by close friends and relatives. No political party leaders were invited for the wedding ceremony, reports have stated. Some reports have also stated that the wedding took place a hotel in Bengaluru.

The wedding proceeding was conducted as per the Brahmin traditions and seers from Udupi Adamaru Mutt were present to bless the couple. Reports also state that the wedding proceeding was carried out as per the Vedic order of the Adamaru Mutt.

For the wedding ceremony, the bride Vangamayi opted for a stunning pink saree teamed up with a green blouse. The groom Prateek wore traditional white Pancha and shawl. The mother of the bride, Nirmala Sitharaman opted for Molakalmuru saree.

Vangamayi holds a masters degree in Journalism from Northwestern Medill School of Journalism. She currently works in the Books and Culture section of Mint Lounge’s features department. Prior to this, she used to work at The Hindu as a features writer.

As per Business today report, the groom Prateek Doshi hails from Gujarat. He works as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the PMO’s office. He moved to the PMO in 2014 when Narendra Modi became the prime minister for the first time, later in 2019, during his second term, Doshi was appointed as OSD in the PMO. Reports state that Doshi looks after the research and strategy at the PMO. Earlier when PM Modi was the Gujarat CM, Doshi was a research assistant at the Gujarat’s Chief Minister’s office.

Meanwhile, speaking of the mother-daughter bond, in September 2019, Sitharaman had shared a throwback picture with Vangamayi on the occasion of Daughter’s Day. She called her a friend, philosopher and a guide. In a tweet, she wrote, “Can say so much and more about daughters. A #throwbackpic with my daughter. A friend, philosopher and a guide. Here’s this on #DaughtersDay.”
