GUWAHATI: The Government of India on Monday banned TikTok alongside TikTok alongside some other Chinese-made apps citing that they were, “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order”.
Here are the five mobile applications you can use as alternatives to TikTok:
Roposo: This is an Indian video-sharing app that can be installed on both Android and iOS devices and has already raked in over 50 million downloads. It is available in 10 different languages including Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali, Malayalam, Odia and Assamese. You can make short videos or edit pictures using video filters, GIF stickers, effects, filters and share them WhatsApp with your friends.
Mintron: This is another free short video-making app made in India. It is designed for people to showcase their innovative videos online with the theme of light humour. You can create, edit and share your videos as well as browse through a library of top videos across the globe.
Chingari: Next up in the list is Chingari – another Indian originated app. You can search for videos, browse through the feed, make creative videos and share with your friends and family Instantly. It has an array of cool features and is available to download on Google Play Store.
Instagram: We all have been using Instagram for years, but now maybe its time to creatively use its interesting editing tools to make short videos and share it on social media platforms.
Dubsmash: Lastly, Dubsmash, which started the trend of lip-syncing video format in India, is one of the best TikTok alternatives. It lets users enact scenes from their favourite movies and songs by lip-syncing them.
