PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: Recently Filmfare has announced nominations for its 65th   Fashion on Amazon Filmfare Awards in 19 key categories. The official nominations were brought out at the Filmfare Technical Awards’ Night.

So let’s have a look at the nominations for the best actor in popular choice category.

Best Actor in a leading role (Popular Choice)

Akshay Kumar for Kesari:

In Kesari the protagonist is played by none other than Akshay Kumar. He is astonishing as Ishar Singh and plays a strong, righteous minded soldier of the British Indian army who is aware of his position as a ghulam of the British despite his strength and bravery. Kumar does not let go off any chance to paint his act with the Sikh pride but he does so with flat dialogue delivery.  With Kesari, Akshay Kumar is back to doing what he does best: action.

Ayushmann Khurrana for Bala:

Ayushmann Khurrana is one actor who has proven that unconventional films can be commercial hits, too. Khurrana with his choice of films has made a special niche for himself in the industry. In this movie Ayushmann’s imitation of the Bollywood actors is spot on and proves, yet again, why he deserves another National Award. Nowhere during the film does it appear that he is doing it extra. He knows where to put salt, where sugar is needed and how much quantity of the rest of the spices are required to make it a balanced experience. Ayushmann hits the ball out of the stadium with his portrayal of Balmukund.

Hrithik Roshan for Super 30:

Hrithik Roshan pulls off a solid performance essaying Anand Kumar, capturing his character’s sincerity and determination very well. While his physicality many not be entirely convincing, his performance more than makes up for it. The actor plays guilelessness with charm in Super 30 as a Patna boy hungry for the most advanced mathematical equations he can lay his hands on, a boy who hides a smile about a girl shyly behind a gamchha.

Ranveer Singh for Gully Boy:

Ranveer Singh is a sight to behold as Murad. He eases into the central character’s innocence, happiness, grief, discomfort, disappointment without a flinch and then at the next moment he is pumping in energy only he can muster in his raps. He is flawless. The best about is Murad, who dreams of rapping and the movie has truly seen the potential of what Ranveer is capable of.

Shahid Kapoor for Kabir Singh:

Though the film garnered a lot of negative flacks but Shahid Kapoor is simply brilliant as the troubled and troubling Kabir Singh in the movie. He seems to have enjoyed the role at points and really suffered at times. Either way, his immersion into this flawed character was complete and flawless. The hardcore emotions running throughout the film, uniquely complemented by the characterization of Shahid Kapoor AKA Kabir Singh was the best part of the movie.

Vicky Kaushal for Uri:

The Surgical Strike: Vicky Kaushal, who had a golden year in 2018, starts 2019 with a bang. There are no complaints about his acting, though at points you want to see more of Vicky’s acting than his action. Vicky does his best and works hard to push the film forward.  Vicky Kaushal’s performance and the film’s fast pace keep the audiences hooked in Uri: The Surgical Strike.
