GUWAHATI: “The fight against COVID-19 not yet ended,” said Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Addressing a press meet in Guwahati on Sunday, Sonowal sought co-operation from the citizens in ensuring third phase of lockdown in the state.

“I urge people to strictly maintain social distancing during this period. Relaxing lockdown rules doesn’t mean that we are free from COVID-19,” said Sonowal.

“I as the chief minister want that every citizen of Assam remain safe and free from disease. Therefore, the Assam Government has launched the fight against this virus taking the people into confidence. I appeal everyone to boost the morale of the frontline workers,” he added.

He also urged the people to encourage the emergency and essential workers working at this hour of crisis.

“Along with the government emergency and essential services, the journalists of Assam are working day and night. So I would like to express my gratitude to all of them,” Sonowal said.
