Famous ‘Kaanta Laga’ Girl, Shefali Jariwala Passes Away at 42

The entertainment industry is mourning the sudden death of popular television actor and model Shefali Jariwala, who became a household name after her appearance in the 2002 chartbuster remix Kaanta Laga. She passed away late Friday night at the age of 42.

According to reports, Shefali was found unresponsive at her home in the Andheri area of Mumbai. The police were informed around 1 a.m. on Saturday and her body was immediately sent for postmortem at Cooper Hospital. While media sources claim that Shefali might have suffered a heart attack, there has been no official confirmation from her family or representatives.

Shefali’s husband, actor Parag Tyagi, reportedly rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital around 11:15 p.m., but doctors declared her dead on arrival. Mumbai Police and a mobile forensic team visited the scene and have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

Her sudden demise has left her fans, friends, and the entire industry in shock. Shefali was not just known for Kaanta Laga but also made her mark in television through popular shows like Nach Baliye, where she danced with her husband, and Bigg Boss 13, hosted by Salman Khan.

Tributes have poured in from fellow celebrities who are struggling to accept the news. Singer Mika Singh wrote a heartfelt message, remembering her as a dear friend. “I’m deeply shocked, saddened, and feeling a heavy heart… Our beloved star and my dearest friend @shefalijariwala has left us. Still can’t believe it. You will always be remembered for your grace, smile, and spirit. Om Shanti,” he posted.

Actress Kamya Punjabi also shared her sorrow, saying, “I can’t get over this news…my heart is sinking. Shefali.” Actor Aly Goni simply wrote, “RIP Shefali.”

Shefali became famous overnight in the early 2000s with her appearance in the music video of Kaanta Laga, a remix that defined a generation. Her confident performance, stylish look, and charisma made her a youth icon at the time.

She later proved herself as a versatile entertainer, becoming a well-known face on Indian television. Her appearances in reality shows showed her fun-loving personality and strong character, which fans loved.
