GUWAHATI, Oct 16: Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah today (Oct 16) launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and its leaders, including top leaders of Assam Congress, questioning why the Facebook pages of several top leaders were being operated from foreign soil.

The senior BJP leader and minister in the Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma cabinet took to the social media, sharing images to substantiate his accusations.

The image showed one of the managers of Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi’s page to be operating from the USA, the Facebook page of national Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge is being operated from Norway by one of the administrators.

He also questioned why a number of “Bangladeshi Miyas” were members of a Facebook page named ‘Gaurav Gogoi Fan’s Club’.

“So Cong is now using foreign interference to influence Indian elections. Leaders from Assam Congress have made fan groups which has individuals from Bangladesh, and top leaders’ social media pages are managed by entities based in Norway and the US. It is extremely worrying that those who take an oath to uphold the Indian Constitution have handed their digital properties to foreign agents. This is a big threat to Assam and the country as well,” Jayanta Malla Baruah stated in a post in his social media handles.
