GUWAHATI, Aug 1: Amid the outbreak of Covid 19, Muslims across Assam celebrated Eid-Al-Adha adhering to all safety protocols on Saturday. In Guwahati, following the restrictions imposed by the administration almost all the mosques allowed a gathering of five people for performing namaz on the occasion.
People in Guwahati gathered at masjids and idgahs adhering to social distancing norms and wearing face masks , which has been made mandatory by the administration.
“We have maintained all safety ptotocols. Only 5 people have been allowed inside and the place of namaz was sanitized before and after the prayers.”Bura Masjid cleric told News Live.
The Covid 19 wave has dampened Eid festivities in Assam, forcing the muslim community to scale down celebrations.
” Due to the unprecedented pandamic going on, me and my family are taking all necessary precautions.I don’t think the Eid spirit is present within us anyway,” Irshad Ahmed told News Live.
Despite the missing fanfare people celebrated Eid in a new light and spirit praying for relief from Corona virus and hoping things will be better in the coming year.
