GUWAHATI: Election Commission has put on hold the transfer and posting of 18 Police Officers ordered by the Assam Government on Friday.
The Assembly elections were announced on Friday in the state along with three other States and a Union Territory.
The Commission said with the announcement of polls, the provisions of Model Code of Conduct have come into force with immediate effect, which includes total ban on the transfers and postings of all officers connected with conduct of elections.
Assam Government had ordered the transfer of 12 IPS and six APS officers.
