Durga Puja pandals in Assam to shut by 10 PM, no cultural function allowed

GUWAHATI:  Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has pointed out several guidelines to be followed by the Durga Puja committees in the state in view of COVID-19 pandemic. Addressing a press meet  in Guwahati, Dr. Sarma said that the pandals would be closed by 10 PM.

“The mandaps should be closed at 10 PM strictly. During the puja, pillion riding for men will be restricted. But it will be allowed for women and kids. There will be no cultural function, but Aarti will be allowed,” said Dr. Sarma.

On the other hand, there will be no closed pandals. Committees will have to construct the pandals that are open on all sides with different entry and exit gates. They have to ensure using of santisier and masks to prevent COVID-19 infection.
