GUWAHATI, Dec 30: Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal today sought the co-operation of the people — including student bodies and political and apolitical organizations — to successfully host the Twenty-20 international between India and Sri Lanka at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Jan 5.
“I seek everyone’s support to successfully host the T-20 international between India and Sri Lanka on Jan 5,” Chief Minister Sonowal said after inaugurating the 7th TG Baruah Memorial Media T20 Cricket Tournament at the Judges’ Field in Guwahati.
Sonowal further hoped that people of Assam will through the medium of sports and games help in taking the State to newer heights of prosperity. The Chief Minister said the tournament would inspire youth to take up sports as a career and also developing sporting environment in the State.
He also tried a few shots with the cricket bat and later, while taking to twitter, stated that cricket has been one of his favourite sports and that taking to the field reminded him of his college days.
