Karbi Anglong Police Saturday submitted a 46-page charge sheet at the Karbi Anglong Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Diphu in connection with the Dokmoka lynching incident. Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das, both hailing from Guwahati, were lynched by a murderous mob at Panjuri village under Dokmoka Police Station on June 8 earlier this year.

Police, in the charge sheet that was filed 80 days after the spine-chilling incident, named all 48 arrested persons as accused under sections 302, 341, 427, 143, 144, 148 and 149 of the IPC.
Two cases (case numbers 32/2018 and 33/2018 at Dokmoka Police Station) were filed while the statements of 71 witnesses were recorded.
Along with the charge sheet, a 104-page case diary was also submitted in court.
Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia said in Guwahati that they have filed a comprehensive charge sheet after carrying out a thorough investigation in the case.

Meanwhile, the parents of both Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das, expressed their happiness over the filing of the charge sheet but reiterated their demand that all the perpetrators of the crime should be handed the strictest punishment.
Police had earlier arrested 48 persons, including prime accused Alphajoz Timung, in connection with the lynching incident that had created a nationwide furore and grabbed news headlines in the international media.
