Doctor, 6 construction workers killed in J&K terror attack

GUWAHATI, Oct 21: A doctor and six construction officials of an infra company were killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district last night. Terrorists, believed to belong to a Lashkar affiliate, opened fire on a camp housing the construction workers building a tunnel, killing the six workers and a doctor.

The victims were identified as Dr Shahnawaz, Gurmeet Singh from Punjab; Mohammad Haneef, Faheem Nasir and Kaleem from Bihar; Anil Kumar Shukla from Madhya Pradesh and Shashi Abrol from Jammu.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called it a “dastardly and cowardly attack on non-local labourers” while Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, said “full freedom has been given to the police, army, and security forces” and assured the people “that those behind this despicable act will not go unpunished.”
