Biswanath Police have arrested twelve persons n connection with the lynching incident at Diplunga tea garden under Sootea police station in Biswanath district of Assam. One person was thrashed to death while three more were injured after five men — all of them pig traders — were attacked by a mob that suspected them to be cattle thieves in the wee hours of Thursday (Aug 16).

The fifth person managed to escape from the ‘clutches’ of the murderous mob and alerted police.
While Deben Rajbongshi succumbed to his injuries at hospital, Phulchand Sahu, Bijay Nayak and Pujen Rajbongshi were seriously injured as the mob thrashed, kicked and assaulted them without heeding to their cries.

The incident comes two months after the shocking lynching of Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das by another murderous mob at Panjuri village under Dokmoka police station in Karbi Anglong district following child lifter rumours.
