GUWAHATI: Expelled BJP leader Diban Deka, the prime accused in the Assam Police sub-inspector (SI) recruitment scam, was on Thursday produced before a court in Guwahati. The court remanded him in a five-day custody of the Crime Branch of Assam Police.
Deka who was on run for nearly 10 days surrendered before police at Patacharkuchi of lower Assam’s Barpeta district on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, the investigating officers are investigating Deka to unearth key information about the scam that had rocked the state.
On the other hand, former deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Prasanta Kumar Dutta, one of the prime accused in the case is still on run. It has been suspected that Dutta fled to Nepal.
