GUWAHATI, Dec 4: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Devendra Fadnavis is all set to take oath as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra after his name was finalised for the top post in the party’s core committee meeting held at Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan on Wednesday.
While the Chief Minister will be from the BJP, ally partners – Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party – will be given deputy CM posts, reports said.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who were appointed central observers for the BJP legislature party meeting, oversaw the process.
The new government will take oath tomorrow (Dec 5).
The Mahayuti won 230 seats in the 288-member assembly in the results declared on November 23. The BJP bagged a massive 132 seats, while the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena got 57 and NCP’s Ajit Pawar faction won 41 seats.
