A devastating fire broke out in Ulubari locality of Guwahati very close to the Assam Police headquarters. The blaze broke out at BK Kakoti Road and engulfed a couple of shops amid reports that a few cylinders also went off further intensifying the fire.

Four fire tenders were initially pressed into service to douse the flames while additional fire engines were being sent. Firemen are trying their best to ensure that the blaze does not spread to other shops, including a furniture shop, located in the adjacent building.

The exact reason as to what sparked off the blaze is yet to be ascertained and the inferno is yet to be doused till reports last came in.
There have been no reports of any casualty or injuries as a result of the fire. However, property worth many lakhs has been reduced to ash as a result of the fire.
