GUWAHATI, Jan 5: Former Assam Ranji cricketer Devajit Saikia is all set to become the full-time Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Saikia, who was BCCI Joint Secretary, has been discharging as interim Secretary after Jay Shah’s elevation as ICC Chairman.
Saikia on Saturday filed his nomination for the secretary’s post while Prabhtej Bhatia applied for the post of treasurer. With both of them the only applicants for the two posts, they are likely to be appointed unopposed at BCCI’s Special General Meeting in Mumbai on January 12.
Earlier in December, Devajit Saikia, who was also appointed to the prestigious role of Board Director of the International Cricket Council (ICC), was named the acting secretary of the BCCI by president Roger Binny following Jay Shah’s ICC elevation.
