Delhi Elections: Voting on Feb 5, counting of votes on Feb 8

GUWAHATI, Jan 7: The Election Commission of India today announced the election schedule for the upcoming assembly polls in Delhi. While voting will take place in a single phase on Feb 5, counting of votes will take place on Feb 8, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced.

Over 1.55 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the national capital which has 70 assembly constituencies.

Twelve of the 70 seats are reserved.

Over 2 lakh youngsters, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced,
will vote for the first time in this election.

The voting process will be carried out in 13,033 polling stations, he further stated.

While the ruling AAP is targeting a third straight term in office, the BJP is going all out to upset AAP’s applecart.

The Congress, on the other hand, will also contest the elections alone.
